Erwann Michel-Kerjan, who runs the Center for Risk Management and Decision Processes at the Wharton School, one of the world-leading centers established in 1984, is also author of a recent book on catastropic risk titled "At War With the Weather." Here he comments on the chain reactions involved in the Japanese nuclear meltdown, the role of food prices in political unrest across the Middle East and beyond, and new financial instruments to distribute risks in the market.
